I’m going to show you 3 fantastic neighborhoods on Bend’s Westside that are perfect for families with kids. This is by no means a complete list of neighborhoods, but a good starting point. #1 : River Canyon Estates
Located in South West Bend near the Deschutes River and Old Mill, River Canyon Estates is perfect for families. With a gorgeous community club house with a fireplace, bar, full kitchen, fitness center, pickleball courts, and an outdoor swimming pool, this neighborhood encourages socializing with other families.
When I asked a resident dad living in River Canyon Estates, he said he loves that he can walk with his kids to school every morning, along with their dog. He also loves that the trail to the Deschutes river is only two blocks away from their house.
#2 : The Parks.
The Parks neighborhood is a hidden gem on Bend’s South West side of town. This neighborhood provides easy access to Mt. Bachelor, downtown, and the Old Mill. The Parks is small and contained. It is very safe for kids since there isn’t any through traffic. You will see kids riding bikes and scooters all around the neighborhood. The Parks has a calm, peaceful, friendly atmosphere.
The Parks neighborhood is filled with large grassy open spaces with covered areas for picnicking and gathering. This community also boasts a swimming pool and basketball courts for residents. A Parks resident with kids said that their family loves the community feel created by the centrally located parks and pool area. Whether their kids are riding bikes to their friends house or hitting the trails, the neighborhood is safe and well maintained.
#3 : Northwest Crossing. Northwest Crossing is an inviting and intentionally designed neighborhood in North West Bend. It is in close proximity to shops on Galveston and downtown. The public elementary, middle, and high schools are all within walking distance. Within the Northwest Crossing community of homes are restaurants, retail, and even medical services. The Grove is a hot spot with an array of restaurants and is a terrific place to gather with friends and family as there is always something for everyone. Elly's ice cream is our family's favorite!
The homes in Northwest crossing offer a lot of variety in terms of style and size. A family with children told me their family appreciates the wide sidewalks, neighborhood parks, and walkable nature of the community. They also love the urban feel with the integration of local shops and restaurants. I feel like Northwest Crossing is an outstanding choice for families with kids of all ages.
